By: Sydney D As someone who up until this past June lived in the Dallas-Forth Worth Area (DFW), I’d like to think I’m at least somewhat used to cooler climates. But given the fact that the coldest DFW has gotten on average was around 32F degrees, me thinking I am used to colder climates is laughable. Nevertheless, I have acquired enough sweaters and turtlenecks over the years to fill a drawer. That and I look cute in sweaters, boots, and beanies. Which is why Galveston has been a bit different weather wise for me! Unlike my upstate friends where they have been bracing the colder climates for weeks now (I think it touched 42 degrees at least once), I have just now been able to breakout my lightweight sweaters. But for the most part it is still shorts and t-shirt weather- something that my some of my family is appreciating. What’s funny is I don’t actually like harsh cold weather (ironic because I plan to move farther north) but I find myself actually missing the frozen nose and ear tips, having hot chocolate not because it’s delicious (because I drink it year round) but because it's freezing, and THICK SWEATERS. Furthermore, turns that I’ve grown to associate Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Years with colder weather. So I’m currently imagining my internal clock looking at the calendar wondering why Thanksgiving is so close but it feels like early October weather. There is one perk to a warmer winter though: No awkward layering. Yes, I know the joy of winter is layer, layer, layer; however, I have yet to acquire the correct formula of layering that results in me not looking like an overgrown marshmallow. I’ve tried, believe me, but I just can’t. Or at least not right now.
Okay, but on a more serious note (I was 200% serious about the marshmallow part though), I am enjoying my time in Galveston, and I am enjoying the weather to the fullest! Now let’s hope I don’t become to used to it before I head north. Leave a comment below and tell me what your winters are like or how the differ from your hometown!

I know what you mean! I'm from Miami and live in Miami now, so winter is really nonexistent here. Anything under 70 is winter here *insert eye roll*. I lived in Fort Worth for three years and loved that there were actually seasons there. I definitely miss it.
