By: Sydney D The sun was setting along the ocean covered horizon as the waves gently pushed and pulled the sand along the reef. The sound of families riding bikes and children laughing as they played tag filled the air- well at least the air surrounding the seawall. Because I was on a completely different island surrounded by college dorms and oil rigs, in my room with the lights off, wrapped in blankets on my bed. What was I doing on this apparent beautiful evening? Why scrolling through twitter of course. Which is how I noticed that I had a circle countdown instead of the classic 5...4...3..2.. Oh my G- I have 280 characters! So after my mandatory 280 character tweet about what a huge mistake Twitter made giving me that much space to tweet, I went back to making short-ish tweets. I mean just because I have the power to make long statements about everything, there is something beautiful about being able to keep something short and sweet and still say a lot. However, you won’t find me giving up the ability to use proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation now. Because, I’m sorry but there is a huge difference between “it’s”, “its”, and “ its’ ”, and I will gladly let people know now! Well in my head, because with more room to tweet comes longer arguments on twitter and I just don’t have the energy to read longer reasons why people still can’t use the proper “there”.
All in all I will most likely only use the extra tweeting room when I’m either ranting or telling a joke. Because other than that most of my tweets are really only retweets or the occasional “Why is it so cold today??” complaints. But feel free to reply to those tweets with a scientific reasoning, you now have the room! I did have some favorites in the swarm of 280 character filled paradise (or filled hell- depending on your stance), so I’ll be posting them below:
