The book, Dead Man Walking by Sister Prejean, covered the topics of religion and the death penalty. And whether it is morally sound to enact the death penalty. The book follows Sister Prejean's journey from being a silent bystander to becoming the face of a protest and later decade(s) long movement. My Personal thoughts: This book was actually a lot more interesting than I originally thought it was going to be. Following Sister Prejean through the conflicting emotions of becoming a spiritual adviser towards not just any type of criminal but death row inmates, forces the reader to confront ideas and questions such as; Is the death penalty murder? Morally sound? Is their life worth less than another's? However you also see the mistakes she made along the way paying one side of the argument more attention than the other. Something that was mentioned by herself of forgetting to console the grieving parents of the murdered children. Overall this book was a very good read and it has certainty found a spot on my "recommend list". Score: 8/10 Leave me a few books I should read this fall in the comments!! Thank you for reading!
