By: Sydney D With Halloween quickly approaching I know most of you have already put up decorations. But if you haven't already, or want some ideas for next year here are 5 way to decorate on a budget!
2. Everything You Need, You Own!
I’m going to mention Christmas once again, sorry; I promise it’s the last time for this post. However, do you happen to have Christmas lights? Because instead of buying Halloween lights at your local decor store, use the christmas ones. I can see you exclaiming, “But they’re clear/green/pink/etc!?!”. Here’s a simple solution, if you have colored construction paper at home (or can purchase at Dollar Tree for $1) you can cover the windows with a color of your choice. Then simply place the lights on the inside of the window and when turned on will give an eerie glow. 3. Walmart (or Dollar Tree) Is Your Friend! Okay, so what you want to do you have to buy something, or you like what I mentioned earlier but you still have to buy some supplies. Well, that’s okay, but since we’re still trying to keep that low budget we will need to stay away from the Spirit Halloween’s of the world. Let’s instead turn our focus to Walmart or Dollar Tree. Both respectable store, with low to very low prices. Items you’ll use for the DIY project, such as construction paper, glue, etc, you can find in Dollar Tree. Meaning it will all be $1! While items like Chris-outdoor lights (didn’t say it), can be found at Walmart at a reasonable price. 4. Second Hand Stores/Goodwill Is The Way To Go! Now I’ve been going to thrift stores since I was- as my Mom would say- “knee high to a junebug”, but I understand why not everyone would. Coincidentally, that’s why you should go! It’s a store filled with antiques, possible decorating items, and clothes that almost nobody else will have. If you’re wanting to make a haunted house look and needed antique type pillows, going to a secondhand shop would be your best bet. And although places like Goodwill will have them around 5 dollars, you can try smaller or local secondhand stores to see if the price is lower. But all-in-all, the price would still be lower compared to a mainstream name brand store. 5. When In Doubt, Go Outside! I saved this for last because I know how most people feel about the great outdoors- No. Thank. You. Nevertheless, we’ll have to branch (pun intended) out there if we want the natural decorating goodies the earth provides. Leaves, rocks, and sticks! This combination is always for sell at a costly price. Honestly, I’ve only seen these items around the fall time, meaning some people spend money on a plastic version just to place it away for nine months. Why do that when you can just collect these items and then toss them back outside when finished. It’s pretty much not only using natural “products”, but also recycling! So how can you use leaves, sticks, and rocks as decorating pieces? Well here are some ideas!:
