By: Sydney D Wow this was supposed to be out February 1st, but the I got busy (What? No I wasn't writing poems and originals stories instead of blog post! Where'd you hear that??) with school and work. So here is a quick flashback: I mean Kylie actually picked out the noodles that he found “acceptable” and left the rest. While Mike just stared at the bowl. Which means I had to result to bribery by using the one thing they had successful forgotten about. The Outside. Quickly I gave them a deal that any elementary kid would find golden: “Eat at least half and you can go out and play.” And to say they quickly agreed would be an understatement, because as soon as the words left my mouth, the both of them had taken four, five, six bites and yelled “done”!
Obviously I’d like to say I didn’t let them go outside, I would love to say they forgotten about the joys of tag as soon as they finished eating- but I’d be lying. So I grabbed their jackets, bundled them up, had them both promise not to fight, and then sent them both to the front porch. Yep! I mean technically it’s outside, and the porch was drier than the basketball court, nearby playground, etc. So I actually was feeling pretty proud of myself, I managed to keep them away from puddles- keeps their Mom happy- and get them outside- keeps them happy. They actually stayed playing on the porch- door open so I could see them from the kitchen- until my Mom got home. Where I gladly handed the babysitting reigns to her, well after I quickly explained where half of the pasta noodles went. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I’m actually really glad I got to babysit if I’m honest. It showed me that although I love kids- they are adorable- I personally can wait until I’m like thirty to actively attempt to have them for myself. Because kids are work, they are little human beings with feels and thoughts that want candy and to play tag in wet freezing environments, so kudos to all the parents out there. I have no idea how you do it 24/7. You probably have a better bribing skills than me- that’s probably the secret. Anyways, thanks for reading, leave a comment on your babysitting techniques or tell some wild stories. I love reading you all’s comments and similar (or different) thoughts!
