By: Sydney D Disclaimer: I am in no way supporting the use of racial slurs, racism or hate speech. I completely get behind people having to face consequences as a result of such actions. This is just my personal opinion on the matter.
I would like to talk about Keaton Jones, not really the video or his family's beliefs, but peoples reaction. A few days ago, a video surfaced on Twitter of him crying about his recent experience of being a victim of bullying. The video ended with him asking why people bully, and as expected thousands of people felt their heartstrings pulled (Although I personally found the video distasteful on the Mother’s part).

Great news! I finally have a way to update my blog more frequently!!! which means I will probably start making post more so on Fridays, Sundays, and Tuesdays. (No idea why I didn't list in chronological order. ) Instead of updating randomly thought out the week or month(s).
So see ya'll Tuesday!!! - Sydney D By: Sydney D Okay, it's not snowing like the picture above, that is from the Galveston snow of 2004. But there are SNOWFLAKES!!
Remember that post I made a few weeks ago? About the lack of a cold winter in Galveston. Well, I guess I stand corrected (partly). There were snowflakes really early this morning around 3AM, and then again around 6AM!! And although didn't stick, and I believe the weather will be going back to sunny days by next week, its still a change of season. By: Sydney D From a very young age we are told to ask questions, if anyone remembers Ms.Frizzle, from Magic School Bus, we were also told to “make mistakes”. But I want to ask the important question of why do we make the mistake of not asking why?
If I’m honest I never really thought to ask this question until recently. In my English class a teacher told a student to put away a Fidget Spinner and the student asked them why. Unlike my old school where the teacher would throw out an “it’s distracting” or “against school rules”, this one simply said “don’t ask why”. A response that was just taken at face value, and even though another teacher piped in with the expected “against school rules”, the moment had already passed and the spinner put away. Now, obviously this is a very small situation that doesn’t spell out disaster in any way. But it does beg the question of how people interact with each other and society as a whole. Have we become more passive? Or just satisfied with the way things are? Or like that student, silenced by an authority so many times with a “because I say so”, that we no longer see the importance of asking questions? Why is that? What happened between the “ask questions and discover” part of our lives? Now we seem to accept things at word or face value. Furthermore, how has this discussion to not ask questions effected not only our individual lives, but other lives around the world? Because, we are all connected. So, why don’t we ask why? Thanks for reading, and please leave your thoughts on whether or not we- as a people- ask “Why?” enough. By: Sydney D Okay, so there are equally as great if not better storytelling out there in the comic book multiverse (sorry, couldn’t help myself), but Dark Nights: Metal does bring a fresh take on the ideal of multiple universes and the- until now- unanswered question of “Well are there worlds with dark versions of our fearless heroes??”. And the answer is hell yes, but not only that but with an exception to Barbatos, Bruce Wayne is the baddest of the bad.
Now I can see the ones who only watch the movies or haven’t touched a DC comic in years scratching your heads. Don’t worry I was both of you when I first read about the comics (having taken a comic book hiatus in 2010 and again in 2016), so to catch you all up here is what happened to lead to this point: (Disclaimer: I copied and pasted the following quote from here, to get a even more in depth idea of what happens just read the comics) By: Sydney D I have hopped on the bandwagon of Netflix list making! But hear me out, how many times have you stared at your Netflix home screen having no idea what you want to watch? I’ve done it at least half a dozen times, three times a week. So, I’m going to cut out a lot of the “what should I watch???” crisis and give you more narrowed down options! So here are some of my favorite winter Netflix picks (Warning: Christmas movies alert!!):
By: Sydney D If you listen very carefully you can hear the tears of emo middle school me as I give you the dreaded news that Warped Tour will no longer be partaking in cross-country tours post the summer of 2018. Dun DUn DUNNNN!!
By: Sydney D Hey guys! So I really enjoyed making “Myths & Origins” for Friday The 13th, it was fun and kinda funny, so I decided to make one for Pocahontas! Probably won't be as funny, but still informative!
By: Sydney D I was not tagged in this blog challenge but I thought it would be really fun! A nice winter themed get to know you...or well me. So feel free to read and maybe try out the tag yourself!!
The Rules
By: Sydney D As someone who up until this past June lived in the Dallas-Forth Worth Area (DFW), I’d like to think I’m at least somewhat used to cooler climates. But given the fact that the coldest DFW has gotten on average was around 32F degrees, me thinking I am used to colder climates is laughable. Nevertheless, I have acquired enough sweaters and turtlenecks over the years to fill a drawer. That and I look cute in sweaters, boots, and beanies. Which is why Galveston has been a bit different weather wise for me!
